FAQ's
How do I prep screen printing files?
All Files must be 300 DPI or a Vector File. Preferred file types are .PSD, .TIF, .EPS, .AI, .PDF, and .JPG. Design should be sized to print. Orders cannot be started until we have usable artwork. Do you have a minimum? We will do an order as small as 24 shirts per design but there will be some restrictions on size and number of colours. We recommend printing at least 50 for best pricing. Can I mix and match shirt & ink colors? Yes. Different shirt colours are ok as long as the ink colours are the same. You must order at least 12 of each shirt color. If we need to change ink colours additional fees will apply. Can I mix shirt sizes & do I need to order in dozens? You can order as many different shirt sizes as you want and you DON'T have to order in dozens, unless otherwise stated. Certain brands require ordering in half dozens. Screen printing vs. Digital printing? Screen printing involves creating a stencil / screen and using that stencil to apply layers of ink on the printing surface. Each colour is applied using a different screen, one at a time, combined to achieve the final look. Digital printing is a much newer process involving your artwork being processed by a computer, and then printed directly onto the surface of your product. Digital printing is not a heat transfer or appliqu'e, as the ink is directly adhered to the fabric of your shirt. Each printing process has its strengths, and our artwork team will weigh these when deciding which to use for your design. |
Do I pay more money for different colours in embroidery?
No. Embroidery costs are strictly for numbers of stitches int eh logo - cost has nothing to do with colours. The only time this is different is when we are using a fire retardant or metallic thread - then the extra cost is just for the different thread. How do we calculate cost of embroidery? Embroidery prices are calculated based on the stitch count of the design. To determine this we first need to have a rough copy of your design. This can be emailed to us in any of the following forms: jpg, jpeg, gif. We also need to know what type of garment it will be stitched on, what size you want the finished design to be and how many garments will be done each time. Once we have your design we will do a rough setup and give you a quotation based on this. The more information you can give us, the better our quote will be. Basically you can assume embroidery is approximately $1.00 per thousand stitches. What does it mean to "Digitize" a logo or design? Digitizing a design or logo is the art of translating your picture or drawing or idea into a stitch format that can be read by the embroidery machine. This involves the use of specialized embroidery creation software to create the commands such as colour changes and trims, what type of stitch to use and where to use it, all the information needed to create your unique design. |
